Summary (English)

• No account, no sign-in. The app never asks for your email, name or phone number.
• The developer operates no server and collects no data. There is nowhere for your data to be sent.
• No tracking, no analytics, no advertising. No Google Analytics, no Firebase, no ad SDK, no crash reporting.
• All of your data stays on your device — settings, favourites, tasbeeh counts, ritual-tracker history, reading position.
• Location is used for prayer times and Qibla direction and is computed on-device. It leaves the device in exactly two cases, listed below.

1. Data that stays on your device

The app stores everything in a local Hive database inside its own private app storage. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is synced to a cloud, and all of it is deleted when you uninstall:

• Settings: calculation method, city, time zone, font size, theme colour, notification preferences, Hijri date adjustment (−1 / 0 / +1).
• Your last known coordinates — cached locally only, so prayer times still work when location services are switched off.
• Favourite adhkar and duas, Mushaf bookmarks, last-read page.
• Tasbeeh counter and total.
• Hajj & Umrah ritual-tracker history and active session.
• Prayer-tracking log (your answers to "Did you pray?").
• Any recitations or Mushaf files you choose to download for offline use.

The developer cannot access any of it.

2. Location

The app requests location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) for one purpose: to determine where you are so prayer times and the Qibla direction are accurate. The permission is optional — if you decline it the app keeps using the last saved location, and every other section (Quran, adhkar, duas, tasbeeh) works fully.

Background location ("Update location automatically")

When "Update location automatically" is on, the app refreshes your location about once an hour so that prayer times, adhan alerts and the "Did you pray?" question stay correct while you travel. For this to work even when the app is closed or not in use, the app requests background location access (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION — "Allow all the time"):

• It is requested only from the Settings screen, after a clear explanation, when you tap "Allow updating while the app is closed" yourself.
• It is optional; without it the location is updated only when you open the app.
• The location is stored on your device only. It is never used for advertising, tracking or analytics, and is never sent to the developer.
• You can stop it at any time by turning "Update location automatically" off, or from system settings.

Computed on-device (location does not leave)

• Prayer times — calculated mathematically in-app via the adhan library. Your location is never sent to a prayer-times service.
• Qibla direction — derived on-device from your coordinates and the device compass.
• Fasting reminders and the Hijri calendar — computed entirely on-device.

The only two cases where location leaves the device

In both cases no personal identifier is attached — no name, no account, no device ID. If you never open the Nearby Mosques screen, your coordinates are never sent to OpenStreetMap.

3. Notifications and exact alarms

The app uses local notifications only. There are no push notifications, no server sending you anything, and no registration token transmitted anywhere.

Notifications are scheduled on your device using system alarms, because an adhan or a fasting reminder that arrives late is worthless. That is why the following permissions are requested:

4. Network connections and third-party services

The app needs no internet for adhkar, duas, prayer times, Qibla, tasbeeh or fasting reminders — all of those work offline. The internet is used only for audio content and maps, and in those cases the provider sees your IP address and what you requested, as is inherent to how the internet works:

• mp3quran.net — reciter lists and full-surah recitations.
• cdn.islamic.network — per-ayah recitation synced to the Mushaf.
• api.quran.com — Quran text and metadata.
• overpass-api.de and mirrors (OpenStreetMap) — Nearby Mosques only.
• Islamic live-radio streaming providers (e.g. radiojar.com, akamaized.net, holol.com).
• The Android platform geocoding service — to turn coordinates into a city name.

These services are independent of the developer and are governed by their own privacy policies. The app sends them no personal data and no identifiers.

5. What the app does not do

• It does not collect your name, email, phone number or contacts.
• It does not use the camera or microphone.
• It does not read your files, photos or messages.
• It does not sell any data, nor share it with data brokers or advertisers.
• It shows no ads and contains no in-app purchases.
• It includes no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools.

6. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from any user, including children under 13.

7. Your rights and control

• Revoke location permission (or just background access) at any time in system settings; the app continues to work with the last saved location.
• Turn notifications off — all or individually — from inside the app or from system settings.
• Delete all of your data by uninstalling the app, or via System Settings → Apps → Rafeeq El Muslim → Storage → Clear data. There is no other copy anywhere.

Because we hold no data about you, there is no data of ours for you to request access to, correct, or have erased.

8. Changes to this policy

If the way the app handles data changes, this page and the "last updated" date above will be updated.
